MP Nambooze stoned at a rally by opponent supporters.

Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke survived death after hostile supporters attacked her during a campaign in Mukono.

MP Nambooze is among a few Ugandan politicians who have had successful rallies without disruption from Uganda Police.

According to her rallies, chances are high to retain her parliamentary seat, despite challenge from Democratic Party (DP) candidate Fred Kagimu.

The legislator accuses her competitors for attempting to murder.

“We have survived death when we landed into an ambush by a killer squad master minded by TDC .Bamwine and the good DP Kagimu and one Wamala Joseph,” says MP Nambooze.

“I’m told that a meeting sat after Bobi’s visit to see how to deal with Nambooze-NUP,/ Bobi Mukono supporters. Funds were recieved to finance this and one Kamulegeya of Kiwanga was appointed to lead this devilish mission,” she explained.

MP Nambooze told Whisper Eye News that similar attacks are planned to happen in other parts of the country mainly on National Unity Platform (NUP) candidates.

“Goon were ferried into the constituency and deployed at my remote village in Bukerere Ward with stones ,clubs and pangas….these deadly goons had been instructions to kill Nambooze,” MP Nambooze said.

She narrests how the crime was organised before their notice.

“The residents of the area innocently organised a big meeting with a group of dancer comprising of the children under our care.

Without noticing that I was surrounded I got up to address my people from the roof of my car. As soon as I shot up stones stated landing with two of them hitting me on the left arm and the other on the Neck,” says Nambooze.

“The next minutes the goons beat up my people, smashed car screen. My team which was caught unaware moved to protect me and fight back. Well we have sustained injuries lost property but we shall not back out,” vows hon Nambooze.

Supporters of the embattled MP Bakireke fought back and in the process captured the Commander of the team.

Election violence has engulfed the country as Uganda draw close to the general elections expected early next year.

Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu was arrested in Luuka district sparking off riots across Uganda which led to death of over 100 people .
