Nakwedde Vows to Champion Education, Health and Economic Empowerment in Kayunga District.
Kayunga District Woman Member of Parliament Harriet Nakwedde has pledged commitment towards advocating for commercial and entrepreneurial growth, education advancement, and improved health services in Kayunga District.
Nakwedde made the remarks during her thanksgiving event held at Busaana in Kayunga District following her election to the 12th Parliament under the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Addressing supporters, leaders, and well-wishers, Nakwedde thanked the people of Kayunga for entrusting her with leadership and assured them of dedicated service focused on improving livelihoods and amplifying the voices of ordinary citizens.
She emphasized the need to empower communities economically through entrepreneurship, business support initiatives, and youth empowerment programs aimed at reducing unemployment and poverty among households.
Nakwedde also highlighted education as a key pillar in transforming society, promising to advocate for improved access to quality education and support for learners, especially girls and vulnerable children.
On health, she pledged to support efforts aimed at improving health service delivery and community wellbeing.The event attracted several notable political and community leaders from across the country, including Lina Zedriga Waru, the NUP Deputy President for Northern Uganda; Jolly Jacklyn Tukamushaba, NUP Deputy President for Western Region; Members of Parliament including Hon. George Musisi of Kira Municipality; Hon. Ivan Kyeyune of Nakasongola Municipality; Hon. Sheilah Amaniyo Draville the Woman Member of Parliament for Mukono District; Engineer Stephen Dagada, the former Kayunga LC5 Chairperson; and Saddam Gayira, President of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).
Speakers at the event congratulated Nakwedde upon her victory and called upon leaders to remain united in advocating for democracy, service delivery, and socio-economic transformation.
Nakwedde’s political journey spans several years, having previously served in different leadership positions including District Woman Councillor and Secretary for Education in Kayunga District.
Her election to Parliament marks a significant milestone in her long-standing political and public service career.
