In a press conference held at their headquarters in Naguru, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) youth voiced their unanimous call for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to retire from his position as Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and prepare to contest for the presidency in the 2026 elections. The youth wing of the PLU, a prominent political organization known for its nationalistic ideals and commitment to progressive change, expressed their belief that General Muhoozi’s leadership could significantly transform Uganda’s political landscape.
Addressing the media, the PLU youth highlighted the need for dynamic and forward-thinking leadership to navigate Uganda through its current socio-economic challenges.
“General Muhoozi has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to our country throughout his military career. It is time for him to bring his vision and experience to the highest political office in Uganda,” A one Pascal Natamba said.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has had a distinguished military career. He has played a critical role in various military operations, contributing significantly to national security and regional stability. His tenure as CDF has been marked by a series of reforms aimed at modernizing the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and enhancing its operational efficiency.
Youth Demand for Change
The PLU youth emphasized the urgency of generational change in Uganda’s leadership. “The youth of Uganda are the majority, and we need a leader who understands our aspirations and challenges. General Muhoozi, with his progressive outlook and innovative ideas, is the right candidate to steer our nation towards a prosperous future,” he added
During the press conference, the PLU youth outlined their vision for Uganda under General Muhoozi’s presidency. They advocated for policies that would spur economic growth, create job opportunities for the youth, and improve access to quality education and healthcare.
