Presidential race 2021: Bobi Wine applaud artists for massively joining his NUP party, laughs at spying agents at Kamwokya. Whisper Eye Reports

Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party President Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has happily received a group of Uganda artists who have joined his new party.

The group comprised of artists, events promoters including; group, Singer Sir Mathis Walukagga, Hilary Kiyaga popularity known as Dr Hilidaman, Geoffrey Lutaaya and his wife Namatovu, Kayemba Solo, among others.

Kyadondo East MP Hon Kyagulanyi appreciated musicians for the positive response towards the cause to change the country.

“Today was one of the best days of my life. There is nothing as fulfilling for me as a leader as seeing very talented people embrace our message to personally get involved in the affairs of our country,” says Mr Wine.

“Previously, we artistes were looked at as unserious people who had no idea what was going on, or who were simply supposed to be used to push other people’s agendas,” he said.

According to MP Kyagulanyi, he was pleased to see 84 artists at NUP headquarters at Kamwokya joining the National Unity Platform party.

“I am sure the dictatorship feels the heat – because they understand the power of art in driving a people’s revolution,” says MP Kyagulanyi.

MP Kyagulanyi said that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s defeat in 2021 is inevitable.

“There is nothing that will be out of our reach because we are a united generation,” he stated.

“I am also very happy to receive many other leaders at all levels who are joining the Platform,” says Mr Wine.

In the previous general elections artists have been paid to sing and praise President Museveni.

It is not yet clear whether artists will stand with Bobi Wine or return to sing for President Museveni.
