The National Unity Platform presidential candidate Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine has resumed his campaign trail early this morning having suspended them due to what he has called police brutality.

The National Unity Platform Leader heads to eastern districts of Budaka, Kibuku and Manafwa.


Addressing his team from his Magere home , Bobi Wine was this time not dressed in his a suit with a tie but was dressed in a red jumpsuit covered in a bullet proof vest as well a head gear.

Bobi Wine said he decided to be prepared for danger in the campaign trail.

“The reason I am dressed like this is not for anything but because I know they are targeting me and they want to harm me,” he said.

“They think that if they kill me it will be good for them but they don’t realize that it will make matters worse.”

Mr Wine officially filed a complaint before the Electoral Commission a body mandated to oversee elections in Uganda accusing Uganda Police and UPDF of trying to murder him and his team.

He was in the company of his trusted team , he filled dozens of photos taken from the field among which Bobi Wine bullets fired at his vehicle with the aim of killing him.

Enaga the police spokesperson denied Bobi Wine allegations saying they have no intention of terminating the NUP party presidential candidate.

He said Police wouldn’t try to kill a person they have been assigned to protect as a presidential candidate.


New Security


Bobi Wine also revealed that the Electoral Commission assigned him a new security team.

The other team which was assigned to him when he was nominated has faced serious hurdles as their protective duty is being enforced.

ASP Kato who was the head of the team was seriously injured after police a teargas canister exploded near him hitting his head .

He is currently admitted at Mulago hospital in a stable condition.

Briefing his new security team today, Bobi Wine asked them to cooperate with Private security team headed by Eddie Mutwe.

“We want to let you know that we don’t have any issues with police and other security organs, but we also aren’t afraid of them,” he said.

“We therefore ask you to work closely with our security and make sure that you are not here to fight with us.” He added.

Bobi Wine also attacked police and the government for creating what he described as baseless propaganda saying his security detail threw a tear gas canister to hurt him.

He took a moment off to pray to the almighty God as he heads to Manafwa , Kibuku districts .

Bobi Wine looks ahead to end president president Museveni 35 year grip rule in Uganda.
